The STWST48 format was renamed STWST84 in 2025, after 10 editions of STWST48 in its 11th edition!

With the change in name, the duration of 48 hours is cancelled, the format is extended and the new name STWST84 marks an expanded reference point for Stadtwerkstatt media art projects with 1984: in 1984, STWST participated in Ars Electronica for the first time. The year 1984 is also culturally significant.
